Into northern Arizona, rides a woman, a woman of the west, Vic Carson.  When Dan Sloan hires her to care for a remote ranch, he has no ideas, the wheels he puts in motion.  His round-up boss, Monk, finds that this slip of a girl is more than equal to the task. Follow along and see what things befall this crew of top hands.

Review of “Vic Carson” by Dennis Williams

Wonderful, fun read, obviously written by a true cowboy. The reading experience was nothing short of a lot of fun. There was a little suspense, some gender issues with a pretty young girl doing a cowboy’s job (better than many men), and even a hint of a future romance. I’m guessing the author put that in to be developed in the next series book. I have no idea, but it would cause me to buy the next one to see how the love between Vic and Monk develops. I’m guessing that Dennis will write about that in a highly respectful style that wouldn’t cause the most prim and proper librarian to blush in the slightest bit.

The writing style is like a cowboy would talk, which makes this a great book and will cause me to read others from this author. He knows the language because he has used it all his life. I’ve been around the cowboy west for 50 years, and he a few terms that I had not heard. I have read many books about lifestyles or regions, and the author will try using terms to indicate he or she knows what they are discussing. I often pick up one or two mistakes proving that an author hasn’t done the research. Dennis doesn’t have to do the research; he is the culture, and now we get to soak up some of it.

Thanks Dennis.
